The Montana Department of Environmental Quality recently announced a new funding opportunity to fund fast-charging electric vehicle stations along key travel corridors. The grants are funded by the Volkswagen Settlement funds which are intended to reduce harmful nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions that can contribute to unhealthy air.
The “Fast Charge Your Ride” grant aims to reduce NOx emissions while also making it easier to travel across Montana in an electric vehicle. The grant helps fund the installation of Level 3 – also known as DC fast-charging – electric vehicle stations along key travel corridors along I-90, I-15, US-93 and a portion of US-2 in Montana. The grant also prioritizes locations in Gardiner, Seeley Lake and West Yellowstone.
DEQ will host a webinar on November 12 at 11 a.m. to provide additional information on the Fast Charge Your Ride grant and answer questions. The webinar will be held via Zoom, accessible both online and by telephone.
