Power in Numbers: Leveraging the Shared Voice of Mountain Communities in a Time of Climate Change
by Diana Madson
Mountain communities in the American West are experiencing detrimental effects to their environments and economies as a result of climate change: increases in catastrophic wildfire, the spread of the mountain pine beetle epidemic, and reduced snowpack are just a few of the impacts compromising the landscapes and, in turn, tourism-based economies. In the face of such economic and environmental stresses, what can mountain communities do? During this talk, Mountain Pact Founder and Executive Director Diana Madson will share her theory of change and how she’s mobilized mountain communities across the West through a shared voice on federal climate and public lands policy.
