In today’s meeting, we’ll focus on ways to increase the availability and accessibility of renewable diesel for individuals and smaller fleets, and discuss practical options for lowering barriers to adoption.

A few of the topics we’ll touch on include:

• Increasing retail availability of renewable diesel in our region

• Encouraging fuel retailers to carry RD (e.g., Town Pump, Rocky Mountain Supply, Parkland/SUNOCO)

• Awareness and outreach ideas to help more fleets and individuals learn about RD

• Strategies around pricing, volume demand, and anchor fleets

• Policy and incentive opportunities at the state and local level

We’ll also briefly recap highlights from last month’s session, including:

• Survey results showing strong participation across 10 states, with many attendees still exploring their first opportunities to try RD

As a reminder, renewable diesel:

• Requires no engine or fueling infrastructure changes

• Meets the same ASTM standards as petroleum diesel

• Can be used in all diesel vehicles and equipment

Our goal with this working group is to build collaborative relationships and accelerate the shift to cleaner, more efficient transportation energy sources.

Join YTCC and JHMR fleet manager, Steve Parker to see JHMR’s fleet operations first hand. We’ll check out the electric snow groomer the resort is demoing this week, as well as their own electric snowmobiles. If you’re interested in adding electric snow machines to your fleet, this field trip is for you! Additionally, Steve will explain how he’s managed getting and using renewable diesel in the JHMR fleet and how it has positively impacted engine functionality as well as reducing emissions.

Hey Bozeman, Drive Electric MT is heading to Montana State University for an EV Showcase! This event is part of MSU Climate Week. Stop by to see our selection of all-electric vehicles just north of the Student Union Building near Montana Hall. You will be able to talk to vehicle owners directly- find out why going electric was right for them, and why it could be right for YOU! Beverages and snacks provided.

Harbinger Motors will be bringing at least one of their Commercial Electric Vehicles for people to look at and test drive. They build medium duty (class 4-6) trucks. Harbinger is unique in that they offer a Hybrid version with an onboard generator to increase the range to 500 miles. They’re also working with a truck shop/dealer in Missoula. Stop by the Missoula County Fairgrounds to discover how a medium duty electric fleet could work for you!

Join this month’s Renewable Diesel Working Group Meeting to hear about developments and updates from Montana’s renewable diesel producer, Calumet. Hear from Krista Lee Evans, VP of Government Relations, about RD updates in Calumet and how that will impact the state.
